Your health is private. We built Doctera that way.

Medical records are some of the most personal data there is. Here is exactly how we protect yours, for patients and for doctors.

How we protect your medical data

Your privacy in one paragraph: your records are encrypted in transit and at rest, only you and the doctors you approve can open them, and every access is written to an audit log. And we never sell your data.

You decide who sees what

This is at the heart of Doctera. A patient grants a specific doctor access to their full history and can revoke it in one tap, anytime. The AI only ever analyses records you have consented to. A doctor only ever sees their own patients.

Encrypted in transit

Every connection between your device and Doctera is protected with TLS (HTTPS), the same encryption your bank uses. No one can read your data as it travels.

Encrypted at rest

Your records, reports and files are stored on secured servers with encryption at rest, plus encrypted, regularly-tested backups.

Every access is logged

Each time a record is opened it is recorded in an audit trail. Strict per-account isolation means data is never mixed between doctors or patients.

We never sell your data

No advertising, no data brokers, no reselling. Your information is used for one thing only: providing your care. You can export or delete it whenever you want.

AI that assists, with consent, not surveillance

When Doctera helps a doctor write a note, the consultation is processed securely to assist them, and the doctor reviews everything before it is saved. We do not use your medical data to train public AI models.

Is it end-to-end encrypted, like WhatsApp?

Not end-to-end like a chat app, and we'd rather be honest about why. A records platform has to store and process your data so your doctor can open, share and (with your consent) AI-summarise it. Instead, we encrypt everything in transit and at rest, log every access, isolate each account, and put you in control of who sees what. That's stronger, in practice, than a promise we couldn't keep.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or permanently delete your data, and withdraw any consent at any time. Closing your account keeps nothing you didn't ask us to keep.

For doctors

Your patients' trust is your reputation. Doctera keeps it airtight: consent-gated sharing, a full audit trail, and no lock-in: your data is always yours to export.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies, to keep you signed in and the site secure. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

Our providers

We work with vetted providers for hosting, speech-to-text and AI, each under a data-protection agreement, chosen because they do not reuse your data for their own purposes.

Frequently asked questions about your data

Plain answers to the questions patients and doctors ask us most.

Is my medical data private on Doctera?

Yes. Doctera is designed to keep your medical data safe and private: every connection is encrypted with TLS (HTTPS), records are encrypted at rest, each account is strictly isolated, and every access is written to an audit log. Only you and the doctors you have granted access can open your file.

Who can see my medical records and documents?

Only you, and the doctors you explicitly grant access, which you can revoke in one tap, at any time. Access is consent-based: a doctor only ever sees their own patients, the AI only analyses records you have consented to share, and every time a document is opened it is recorded in the audit trail.

Does Doctera sell health data?

Never. We never sell your data: no advertising, no data brokers, no reselling. We do not use your medical data to train public AI models. Your information is used for one purpose only: your care. You can export or permanently delete it whenever you want.
